CUSO-UK is proud to sponsor the "Edward Filene Credit Union Award for Excellence" for a credit union demonstrating performance by a credit union pursuing International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) Principle 6 "Co-operation amongst Co-operatives" because it regards credit unions as potential financial centres for the Co-operative movement.

It believes credit unions should be able to convert the 12,000,000 members of co-operatives in the UK to be credit union members and also to suply the 7,000 co-op businesses with financial services.

Credit unions will need to draw on the goods and services of providers and create their very own trading "Friends of the Credit Union" to help place them at the centre of the Co-operative Economy.  CUSO-UK can help them do that.
